September 25, 2023 - We are launching our exhibit in partnership with local Indigenous artists from the Brascoupé family.

The exhibit is titled "Akì eji pimadjiwomagak", meaning "Land Connection". This exhibit is a camper featuring a mural on all four sides painted by Algonquin Anishinabe artist, Emily Brascoupé-Hoefler and her family. The camper greets visitors with one single, powerful and inviting word: “Kwey”, the Algonquin word for "Hello". The art highlights culturally significant imagery and stories related to the land, water, animals, nature and Algonquin ingenuity. It is a visual, audio and augmented reality exploration and celebration of Indigenous public art and artists here in Ottawa. It is a completely FREE, 7-stop walking tour (including 3 AR experiences), and will take people on a journey of discovery, connecting with the land and its stories through the lens of local Indigenous artists.

The three AR experiences available in Ottawa are:

  1. Akì eji pimadjiwomagak / Land Connection: Camper exhibit at 118 Sparks Street

  2. National Arts Centre - Heartbeat of Mother Earth, by Algonquin Anishinabe artist Emily Brascoupé (coming soon)

  3. Confederation Park - Spirit Ponies by Métis artist Rhonda Snow

We invite you to download the Engage Art app before arriving.
